Local practitioner urges smokers to quit for Stoptober

A North London based hypnotherapist is encouraging the public to look for practitioners registered with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) if they want to use hypnotherapy to help them give up smoking during Public Health England’s (PHE) Stoptober campaign.

According to the Royal Society for Public Health and the government-backed Professional Standards Authority (PSA), practitioners on Accredited Registers such as CNHC’s are an untapped resource who have a key role to play in supporting public health initiatives such as giving up smoking.

Commenting on the accredited registers workforce, PSA Chief Executive Harry Cayton said: “It is a vital network through which we can support behaviour change and ultimately improve the public’s health: whether it is signposting people to smoking cessation services or offering brief lifestyle advice on healthy eating, accredited registers practitioners are undoubtedly an unsung and instrumental part of the wider public health workforce.” [1]

Bridgette Mansfield Hypnotherapy says: “Hypnotherapy is often used to help clients achieve the behavioural change needed to stop smoking but it’s so important the public use someone who knows what they are doing. As a CNHC registrant my credentials have been checked so the public can choose with confidence.”

Bridgette has been helping people to quit smoking for 10 years.  Being an ex-smoker herself, she knows the relief that comes with being a non- smoker.  In just one session, you can become a happy non-smoker easily and effortlessly.

Bridgette Mansfield Hypnotherapy added that: “Hypnotherapy is one of 16 therapies registered by the CNHC. There are over 6,000 practitioners on the register and members of the public can search the CNHC register to find practitioners in their local area.”

For further information, please contact bridgette@123relax.co.uk or call her on 07932 084321

Visit the CNHC website for a list of registered practitioners www.cnhc.org.uk.

  • Stoptober is a campaign run by Public Health England in partnership with local authorities and the NHS. The campaign lasts 28 days because the evidence says if you can stop smoking for 28 days you are five times more likely to give up for good. Details of the campaign can be found here: Stoptober – Public Health England
  • CNHC’s register is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
  • All practitioners registered with CNHC have demonstrated they meet UK-wide standards.
  • In October 2017 the Royal Society for Public Health and the Professional Standards Authority published ‘Untapped Resources: Accredited Registers in the Wider Workforce’, a joint report which highlighted the role that practitioners on accredited registers can and do play as part of the wider public health workforce. https://www.cnhc.org.uk/rsph-and-psa-report-untapped-resources

If you want to stop smoking………read on!

Firstly, why do you want to stop?    We all have different reasons!

Are you fed up with stinking like an ashtray? Are you afraid of an extra risk of cancer? Do you want to improve your health / breathe easier? Is it financial reasons? Are you embarrassed about having stinky breath? Are friends and family nagging you?  Are you worried about aging prematurely.  Is it inconvenient standing out in the cold and rain?  Do you feel controlled by fags?

If you have tried to stop before, do you know why it didn’t work?

Was your will power not strong enough?  Peer pressure?  Were you stressed?  Angry?  Fed up?  Did alcohol play a part?  Are you making excuses?

Are you scared to stop?

Most people are afraid to stop smoking – what if you fail?  What if you succeed?  These fears cause you to sabotage any attempt to stop.    Do you worry about what you will do with your hands?  What if I get stuck in a traffic jam, what will I do if I don’t smoke?  How will I deal with stress?  How will it change me?  It’s what I have always done?  You can overcome these fears if you understand them – you will find a way to work it out.

If what you are doing isn’t working, then do something else!

For example, if taking nicotine doesn’t help you to stop smoking, taking nicotine some other way isn’t likely to help you stop smoking either.  The physical habit of smoking will not be replaced by a nicotine substitute.

What is the best method for me to stop smoking?

We are all different and so certain methods will be successful for some and not for others.  So, if your friend stopped by using the conscious act of willpower, this does not necessarily mean it will work for you or if you know someone who succeeded with hypnotherapy, that doesn’t necessarily signify it is the right therapy for you (but of course it might be as hypnotherapy has one of the highest success rates in stopping smoking!).

Choose the right hypnotherapist for you

There are many people out there promising they can stop you smoking.  The only person who can stop you smoking is YOU.  A therapist can HELP you to stop smoking.  When choosing the right therapist for you, check their qualifications.

So if you would like help to stop smoking, give me a call on 07932 084321  for a no obligation chat or email me Bridgette@123relax.co.uk

I also help people to  lose weight, overcome fears / phobias / anxiety / stress / insomnia/ lack of confidence and most emotional issues, I also teach hypnobirthing antenatal classes.

Stoptober

I actually can’t believe that I used to smoke – what a stupid thing to do.  Stopping smoking was one of the best things I have ever done.  What a relief to not be desperate for a Malborough light when stuck in a traffic jam and my packet is empty – that awful, almost panicky feeling!  What a relief to know that I am not contributing to possible health problems.  What a relief that I am free from that stinky stale smell, plus I have more money to spend on nice things.  In fact, I have worked it out, I am approx. £2912 a year better off!!  Wow, that’s a lot of money…..hmm, what shall I buy now?

This October, lots of people are taking part in the 28 day challenge to stop smoking .  Are you one of them?  If you are, congratulations, you should be very proud of yourself.  If you aren’t but would like to (or are desperate to) stop smoking, hypnosis can help you.

In just one session you can become a proud, happy  NON-SMOKER. I use a special method that combines hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).  I help you break the connections with smoking, whether they are emotional (such as stress or boredom) or physical (such as after a meal or with a drink).  Sometimes, smokers worry that by giving up, they will gain weight or they worry about what they will do with their hands.  I give you powerful suggestions so that there will be no increase in your appetite on becoming a     NON-SMOKER.

For those of you who have tried stopping smoking just using willpower, quitting smoking may have been difficult for the first few days. However the powerful hypnosis techniques can help you get through this period much more easily.

So, what will you do with all that extra cash??

Do you feel ashamed that cigarettes have a control over you?
Do you want to improve your health / breathe easier?
Are the cost of cigarettes hurting your pocket?
Are friends and family nagging you?
Are you afraid of an extra risk of cancer?

Are you scared to stop or making excuses?
How will you deal with stress?  What if you fail?  What if you succeed?  These fears cause you to sabotage any attempt to stop.  You can overcome these fears if you understand them – you will find a way to work it out.

If what you are doing isn’t working, then do something else ………….stop trying to stop with the methods you have used and failed with, because they don’t work for you. Think about how you can stop?
WillPower…….Acupuncture………..Patches………..and of course…………. Hypnosis………… (one of the best ways to help you stop – just have a look at my testimonials :).  I’m sure you know someone who has stopped smoking but the method that they used doesn’t necessarily signify it is the right method for you (but of course it might be :).

I’m Dreaming of a…………… Good Night's Sleep

I’m Dreaming of a…………… Good Night’s Sleep

You just can’t beat a good night’s sleep…….Waking up in the morning feeling refreshed and full of energy sets you off to a good start to the day.

Sometimes, insomnia is simply the result of a broken routine….. jet lag, night shifts, traffic noise, a snoring partner, new babies or it can be due to stresses and worries of every day life
A lack of sleep can make you miserable, forgetful and crabby and simple things become out of proportion as both the brain and body become overwhelmed and exhausted.
It can affect your concentration, appetite, can cause mood swings, depression, stress, anxiety, impair your performance and can cause you to react irrationally.  In fact, it can make such a massive negative impact on your life.  .
You can understand why sleep deprivation was used as a form of torture as well as a fast route to madness!
There are as many cures as there are causes of insomnia and it can often be overcome without resorting to medication.
And it’s never too late to do something about it, even after putting up with the misery of sleep loss for years
Treatment
Hypnotherapy is often seen as a last resort after all else fails when, in fact, just going through the process of learning self-hypnosis is a big step in the right direction. And hypnosis can have a positive knock on effect for any other problems going on in your life.In hypnosis, the habit of disrupted sleep can be adjusted  to suit the lifestyle and expectations of the most long-suffering insomniac.

Here are a few tips to help re-establish a healthy pattern.

Keep to a routine – i.e. try and go to bed and wake up at the same time every day.
Try to exercise 20 to 30 minutes a day
Avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol
Relax before bed: A warm bath, reading, or another relaxing routine can make it easier to fall sleep
Don’t lie in bed worrying: The anxiety of being unable to fall asleep can actually contribute to insomnia. Write your worries down on paper
Maintain a comfortable temperature in the bedroom.
Replace an uncomfortable or old bed
Block out noise (snoring / noisy street etc) with ear plugs
See your doctor: If you always feel tired, there may be an underlying medical condition which needs treating.
Learn self hypnosis: A good hypnotherapist will teach you a variety of relaxation techniques to enable you, with practice, to fall asleep quickly and sleep soundly through the night. They will also help you cope with any contributory factors like stress or anxiety.

Tips to help you stop smoking

By | Anxiety / Panic Attacks, Emergency Hypnotherapy, Hypnotherapy London, Stop Smoking, Uncategorized | No Comments

Here are some tips to help you stop smoking:

Work out why you want to stop…we all have different reasons
Do you want to improve your health / breathe easier?
Is it financial reasons?
Are you embarrassed about the smell on your breath or clothes?
Are your teeth yellow (or brown? eek)
Are friends and family nagging you?
Are you afraid of an extra risk of cancer?
Are you finding it just too inconvenient to smoke – freezing in the cold and rain / feeling like an outsider? If you have tried to stop before, do you know why it didn’t work?
You need to do a little self-analysis to work out why, as this increases your chances of quitting with the help of therapy

Are you scared to stop?
Do you worry about what you will do with your hands?  What if I get stuck in a traffic jam, what will I do if I don’t smoke?  How will I deal with stress?
Most people are afraid to stop smoking – what if you fail?  What if you succeed?  These fears cause you to sabotage any attempt to stop.  You can overcome these fears if you understand them – you will find a way to work it out.

If what you are doing isn’t working, then do something else
Once you know the real reason why you keep failing, stop trying to stop with the methods you have used and failed with, because they don’t work for you. For example, if taking nicotine doesn’t help you to stop smoking, taking nicotine some other way isn’t likely to help you stop smoking either.

Which method is the right method for you?
Once you stop wasting time doing the wrong thing, think about other methods that could help you.  Also – if you know someone who succeeded with hypnotherapy, for example, that doesn’t necessarily signify it is the right therapy for you (but of course it might be :).

Find the right hypnotherapist

Love Is in The Air – or is it?

By | Anxiety / Panic Attacks, Emergency Hypnotherapy, HypnoBirthing, Hypnotherapy London, Relationships, Resolutions, Stop Smoking, Uncategorized, Weight Loss | No Comments

Love is in the air…….or is it?

As Valentine’s day approaches, I thought it only right to discuss relationships……So, if you are

  • Unsure about how or where to meet the right partner
  • Facing divorce or separation
  • Feeling trapped in the relationship
  • Trying to deal with a partners infidelity
  • Feeling frustrated by a poor physical relationship
  • Wanting to improve your current relationship
Then read on…….All relationships are different.  Some are fun, some are serious, some are happy, some are sad, some are committed, some have their own arrangements, some are active, some aren’t!

You may not understand why your friend has chosen the partner they have, or why your friend is best mates with the wall flower in the corner but we all choose people in our lives for different reasons and are attracted to different characteristics in people (otherwise life would be very dull).

Relationships only work if they have the right balance for you.  Whether it’s a relationship with a family member, colleague, friend or lover, everyone will probably experience relationship problems at some point during their life.

We all react differently to situations and emotions and  it can sometimes be hard to know how to resolve certain issues. If these problems are not dealt with they tend to build up over time.   Lack of communication can be a major problem in a relationship and not being able to express feelings may create pressure on the relationship.

An unhappy relationship can impact on your happiness in other aspects of your life too. Most people are much more likely to be fulfilled with other aspects of their life if they are in a happy, fulfilled relationship.

There are many reasons relationships may not be working as well as they should be, but with determination, love and understanding, lots of relationships can get back on track. It often takes time, effort and compromise to make relationships work, but if this ultimately leads to a fulfilling relationship it’s usually worth exploring the problems.

Remember, people mirror each other.  If you are a ‘shouter’, you are very likely to be shouted back at.  If you are calm and objective, people tend to reciprocate that.

Hypnotherapy can be used to help relationships in a number of ways, from learning how to relax to building confidence. Specifically, hypnotherapy can help to:

  • Put problems into perspective and develop an appreciation of each other
  • Recapture the lost feelings of love, friendship and commitment
  • Help you to forgive yourself and others
  • Learn relaxation techniques allowing you to be calm around each other and react in an appropriate way.
  • Increase your confidence and ability to create new and successful relationships.

Hypnotherapy can help you to communicate with your subconscious more effectively, and ultimately build strong relationships.

Resolutions

“What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve,” Napolean Hill (motivational author).

Happy New Year everyone – So, how are you all doing with your New Year’s resolutions? If you’ve still not had any chocolate, fags or booze you’re doing very well and are a rare breed. Many resolutions are made because —it’s what we “do” every year at this time. And for the majority, the custom of breaking a resolution is as strong a part of the tradition as making it.

In their hearts, most people expect to not achieve their New Year Goal and The main reason is

They Expect to Fail

An old friend of mine used to make a resolution every new year to stop smoking.  Sometimes she would stop for 2 days, other years a couple of weeks but it never lasted. Now, being a hypnotherapist,  the reason is obvious to me.

She always said something like this: “I’m going to stop smoking, I hope” or “I’m going to try to give up smoking” or ”I’m going to stop smoking—at least for a while.”

Notice how she built failure into every one of those resolutions. Frankly, resolutions are the closest thing to hypnotic suggestions. Build in failure and you’ve practically hypnotised yourself to fail.
So you see, people usually make and break resolutions! This is because they rely on their will power to help them achieve their goal. Unfortunately will power resides in the conscious mind which is limited.
Another main reason for people making and breaking resolutions is that deep within,  they don’t believe in themselves. Years of negative input, negative feelings and negative self-talk like “I don’t think I’m good enough” or “I’m a failure” have been imprinted deeply in the subconscious mind. And since the subconscious is also lazy, it doesn’t easily accept positive affirmations just once a year. Feelings that reside in the subconscious were formed through repetitive experiences and through believing what we are told by our elders. So, merely making New Year resolutions each year hasn’t worked for most people.
Treatment
The only way to keep a resolution is to get the subconscious and the conscious in agreement.  If our conscious was the part that was in control, it would be easy to stop smoking/drinking/biting nails, however it’s the subconscious that is control and that is why we need to access it and the best way to do that is through hypnosis.
Hypnotherapy can often really help individuals suffering from fears and phobias.  Hypnosis can be used to communicate with the subconscious mind and re-evaluate thinking patterns and behaviour.

Do you fear flying? Scared of heights?  Scared of spiders?  Frightened of feet?  Afraid of appearing on stage? Terrified of trains? Petrified of presentations? Wary of water? Anxious around animals?  Dodging the dentist?

So why contact us?  No matter what you are facing, we are sure that we can help you.  We have a proven track record of success – just look at the testimonials .  We are friendly, informal, affordable and here to help, so no matter what your concern is – get in touch and we can have a no-obligation chat so you can “set yourself free”.

Santa's jelly belly or a red nose like Rudolph?

By | Anxiety / Panic Attacks, Emergency Hypnotherapy, HypnoBirthing, Hypnotherapy London, Relationships, Resolutions, Stop Smoking, Uncategorized, Weight Loss | No Comments

Santa’s jelly belly or a red nose like Rudolph?

Christmas is just around the corner.  I love Christmas – socialising with friends, fantastic food, a tipple or two, presents galore (hopefully!) and excited children.  It’s so easy to over indulge to then regret it the next day/week feeling out of control.
Wouldn’t you like to feel in control?  Stop after that second glass of champagne?  Say no to those fags.  Resist that 6th sausage roll?  Only have one profiterole?  Just one handful of nuts/crisps as opposed to the whole bowl?
With the party season starting, excitement builds, the corks are popped and self control can go out of the window.  Don’t wake up the next morning regretting dancing on the table in front of your boss or with a sore head and not being able to function properly and wasting the day.
(oops – think I may have revealed too much about myself!  Ho Ho Ho – Ok, so who is going to come and hypnotise me then?)
It’s all about moderation.  We all need to have fun and enjoy ourselves or life would be very dull.  Hypnosis can help you be in control of your eating and drinking habits.

Here’s a few tips:

  • For those of you who are going out ‘boozing’ and don’t want to end up with a bright red nose like Rudolph,  make sure you have a glass of water in between each alcoholic drink.  Just doing this will not only stop you drinking as much but also keep you hydrated so the hang over won’t be so bad.
  • Have a glass of water before you put anything to eat in your mouth.
  • Only eat when you are actually hungry for food and not hungry for love, excitement or to overcome boredom or stress because by the New Year you will be able ‘to shake your belly like a bowl full of jelly!’

Just because it is Christmas, it doesn’t mean you have to forget all your good habits.

With the help of hypnosis, you can enjoy yourself but still reap the rewards of losing weight, overcome any fears or phobias and beat any addictions in a positive way.
Book in your appointment now – don’t let alcohol, fags or food control you this Christmas.

I wish you a very merry Christmas…
